Strange title to a blog, eh? Yeah, well I don't write this to be funny, but out of gratitude for so many that helped us last night. What's the worst terror you could experience as a mother? Well, for me it's a child gone missing, and that is exactly what we experienced last night.
We just recently put a tire swing in the front yard and the kids have loved being out there. Kayla and Trevor were out in the front yard playing, and I had just come in to finish dinner. Kayla is REALLY good at making sure Trevor stays in our yard, and if he goes out she is QUICK to come tell me. She ended up coming in, and I asked her where Trevor was. She said, the front yard. I told her to go check, and that's when chaos began. She said he wasn't out there. Ryan and I go out and look at all his usually places to play and sure enough he was no where to be found. At the time there were no neighbors outside, so no one saw anything. After we checked the usual places and were shrieking his name for quite a while, I told Ryan to call the police. They came quickly, and I was impressed with how efficient they were. By this time, neighbors were being alerted and so many came out to look for him. With each passing minute, my heart grew more and more heavy, and I was mess. I work on the mental health unit at the hospital, and work with some shaddy patients. All I could think of was someone found out where I live and they've taken him.
The police came in and got Trevor's blanket so that their kanine could try and pick up Trevor's scent, and that's when the tears really began. I felt like I was in a slow motion version of "Missing Without a Trace." Both Ryan and I started calling church people, so that if we needed to gain a bigger search team we could. Just as they were about to put out an Amber Alert, someone had found him. Of course, all I could do was hug him. When he saw the chaos that he had caused, with 5 police cars, 8 police officers, a kanine dog, and at least a dozen neighbors looking for him, the tears came for him as well. When I asked where he was at, they said he was underneath the crawlspace of the next door neighbors house. When I asked him why he didn't come out when he heard so many people screaming his name his response was, "I wasn't finished smashing the rocks." WOW!
We obviously had a long talk with him last night, and he spent the rest of the night in his room.
So we are grateful for the efficacy of the police force, our friends and neighbors. They never down-played the situation, and when he was found they were nothing but grateful and non-judgmental. SO THANK YOU!

Okay, that is my worst nightmare-so glad there was a happy ending.
Oh my goodness! It really is a mothers worst nightmare. I am glad that he is ok and was found quickly.
We are so HAPPY ALL IS WELL and Trevor is SAFE! Look into the "dog chips" they put in dogs so they can track where they are! I have a feeling Trevor will not be content to stay home! That boy has an adventuresome personality.
Oh, Trevor, oh Trevor! I'm glad that he was safe and that you can breathe again.
I say Lo-jack the kid. That's the GPS tracking device they put in cars and laptops and stuff. Then you can just bring him up on the computer and know where he's at. You could probably just surgically implant the little chip. (totally kidding...but kinda worth the thought...) just wait until he can drive! ugh.
i agree with the lo-jack option, insert in his back like jason bourne, that's pretty scary, glad you found him, thats a tough call
