With help from Ryan and friends, I was able to rearrange my final, babysitting for Trevor, and my tag # for the 5k being picked up on Friday afternoon.
The only sad part of the whole weekend, was how quickly it passed by. I was able to visit with friends from Cincinnati that I haven't seen since I left. I realized a couple things, I really do love all of my friends from Cincinnati and hope we all get to hang out together in the life here after. It doesn't matter if it's been three weeks or three years, we seem to pick up exactly where we left off. Have you ever had friends like that? Where it's just so easy to be with them. I truly feel blessed to have them in my life, and hope to keep it that way.
So, what's the other thing I realized when going back to Cincinnati? I hate TRAFFIC now. When I lived there, it was just part of life. Sure there were times that were very frustrating, but you learned and adapted. I guess I'm grateful for the simplicity of Vincennes traffic. :-)
After the wedding on Friday night, I drove to Indianapolis, where we staying for the 5K. It was AMAZING! (by the way, I shaved a minute off my last 5k time). This is so lame, but I got choked up with emotion a couple times. To see so many gather together (estimation of 60,000 people) for the insane love of running/walking. What I love about competing in these races is that there is no discrimination. Everyone is invited to participate no matter what your athletic ability is.
We were on such a high after the race that we were planning the next event. So, to the rest of the family that pittered out, are you willing to give it a try? We've even thought of coming to a race your way (hint Chicago fam/Sacramento fam). Once you try it, I promise you'll go back for more. Who doesn't love the natural endorphins...it's free? :-)
We've even thought of bumping it up to a 10k!
