Saturday morning started off with the Healthy Kid's Race at the YMCA that the kids and I signed up for. I ran the 5K first, which despite training for, I ran in 34 min 30 sec. I hope to get some more running time in before the 5K in Indy, which my sisters, brother-in-law, and I participating in.
The kids participated in a 1.2 mile race, which was one lap around the perimeter of the YMCA. Kayla took off, and ended up in 8th place. Trevor and I lagged behind. After we made it up the hill, he looked at me and said, "Why are we doing this?" I told him there was more to do than cartoons and the Wii on Saturday mornings. It took a lot of encouragement on my part to get him to finish; I do have to admit that 1.2 mile is long for a four year old. About half way through the lap, he looked over and could see there was a road to cut through and asked if we could take that path instead. I told him that would be cheating, and we had to follow the course. It was all worth it to him at the end when he could see his grandparents and his dad cheering him on. The ribbon for participating was a plus as well.
That afternoon Ryan and Dennis got the four wheeler working for Trevor. Some friends gave it to us because their children had out grown it. It needed a battery, and just a little handy work and it was up and running.
