The last day my kids were in school was Monday. That seems like decades during the winter time. We had 13 inches of snow and ice dumped on us this week. Yes, I know that's nothing for my friends that live in Utah and Wyoming, but here in our neck of the woods that's huge. On Wednesday, we were on a state of emergency. I didn't know this, and the kids and I went out. I thought it was a little eerie that I was one of the few out on the roads that morning. Ryan called while I was out and asked where I was. I told him I was out running errands, and he told me I better get off the roads before I was ticketed. My reason for going out...that morning I realized my children and I would probably be spending the rest of the week together, so I better go out and gather the necessities needed to send these two very active children out in the snow. You see, the first winter we were here I was fully equipped with boots, snow suits & sleds; we didn't so much as have a dusting. Last year we were kind of hopeful and bought another sled, but we decided to wait to buy snow gear. It was a good thing, because again the snow that we did receive didn't even cover the grass. This winter we decided to pack those sleds way up in the shed, because the thought of not using them made us sad.
You can see in the video the shear joy the snow has brought to these two kids. I'm still trying to teach them that you can't walk up the path that you went down or else you'll never get a smooth fast track. No matter how many times I told them, they still went up the same way they went down. Oh well, that'll come with time!
Kayla started to cry in the car when I told her that a lot of this will melt on Sunday because we will be in the 40's. If I were still a kid, I would probably would cry too. I had so many great memories as a child going out and building snow forts in the cul-de-sac, eating snow (but not yellow snow...I had to warn the kids), & endless snowball fights.
I said this when winter started and I'll say it again. All I want is one decent snowfall, and then bring on Spring. So here it is, now let's be done!!

Sadly, every day is a snow day for us-we just don't get school off for it. Glad you enjoyed yours though!
nice sled hill, my kids wouldn't walk in the right place today either.
I remember those "good old snow days" when you were young and the "endless wet clothes we would dry and back out you would go!" Trevors "AWESOME" in his video summed up his excitement.......you could hear it in his voice!
I am surprised you found the snow gear for them.......we have nothing as people called......but I let them know we had flip flops and bathing suits! ENJOY the moment!!
finally they got to experience some real sledding!
Fun for you and kids. I loved those snow days...especially when we had enough to blast down the hillls for hours and hours. My girls miss that party of Ind... but soon they will forget.
