Sometimes we have to learn by experience

You know what I mean! We've all either had to experience something to understand, or we've had to let our children experience life so they could learn. Today was one of those days for Trevor. As a matter of fact, Trevor usually has to experience things in order to understand. He simply cannot take our word for it.
Let me start off by telling you that today's temperature was 17 degrees with on/off freezing rain. Trevor was dead set on going outside to swim. It didn't matter how many times Ryan and I told him that it was too cold to go swimming today, nor the obvious sight of snow/sleet, HE WAS GOING SWIMMING! So he put on his suit. Ryan made one last finally attempt to tell him it was too cold. I finally said, take him outside. Let him go swimming. Ryan laughed, and opened the door to let him out. As you can tell from the picture, he didn't make it off the front porch when he said to Ryan, "It's too cold out here. Carry me." Ryan said, "I'm not carrying you. If you want to go swimming you've got to walk." He then quickly came inside, and we as parents thought he had surrendered to the cold and had realized that it truly was too cold. But as he came in he said, "I need my coat; it's cold outside and I want to go swimming." We then exercised our parental rights, and told him NO! He finally surrendered and went to play with his cars.

My First Trevor Story

I eventually want to go back and journal Trevor's other naughty stories, but I will start off this blog with the most current.
I first have to explain that I have spent too much of my time this past week trying to make this blog cute. I am no smarter today than I was last week and the blog looks no different. So again, this morning I am reading up on how to convert images to html ( blah blah blah). I noticed that Trevor was coming in and out of the kitchen, but never noticed that he was taking things out of the kitchen. It was about an hour later that Kayla came running into me and said, "Mom, Mom, Trevor is trying to make chocolate chip pancakes on your bed!!!!" ( I made chocolate chip heart pancakes for breakfast this morning to celebrate Valentine's Day). Of course, I go running in there and sure enough there is Trevor's version of chocolate chip pancake batter all over my bed and the floor. I did not get a picture of this disaster, I went straight into clean mode. It's now 9:30 p.m. and the dryer is still going. I guess I should be grateful for clean bedding tonight!
Happy Valentine's Day!!

Motherhood

I've decided to create a family blog for one main reason and that is to share my "Trevor" stories with friends and family. I am often asked what Trevor has been up to, or should I say, what he's gotten into lately. We were blessed first, with one of the sweetest little girls, who brings nothing but love and kindness to those she surrounds. I often feel sorry for her, because she aches for a sister and often asks if we can trade Trevor in for a sister. She has persuaded him on occasions to dress up as a princess, but her dreams are shattered when he takes the princess' wand and ninjas her.

I hope through blogging, we will continue to bring joy into your lives as we strive to keep our lives sane.
